Many of our customers, both locally and remotely, are experiencing many difficulties for the past several weeks during the coronavirus outbreak. Cities and states across the U.S. are already taking several precautions to reduce the spread of the coronavirus by shutting down public gatherings, restricting business hours and more. There have already been more than 20 confirmed cases of the coronavirus here in San Diego where Skyriver is located. It’s important to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect your customers, employees and families from spreading the virus. Some recommendations for operating your business during this outbreak include:

  • Encourage and facilitate remote work: Setting up your contingency plans for your staff to accommodate remote work should be one of the first tasks businesses should do. It may take a few days to a week to get back into the your workflows, but adjusting to remote work will help your business be productive for the remainder of the coronavirus’ spread
  • Educate employees about respiratory etiquette: Although many employees are familiar with ways the coronavirus can spread, sending an internal email to all your teams can be a good reminder for your staff to practice good respiratory etiquette that can prevent the virus’ spread. Some etiquettes include washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap, keeping your hands from touching your face and sneezing into your elbow.
  • Prepare for absences: One of the least talked about aspects of dealing with the coronavirus is recovering from the virus or taking care of family members with advanced symptoms. The people who are most affected by the coronavirus are those who already have underlying health issues and the elderly. If an employee’s family member were to test positive for the coronavirus, your business should have a plan that can accommodate the employee’s absence or limited capacity to work.
